| 内容記述 | In this paper meanings and images of a house mainly studied. In the illustrations of KIN PEI BAI, we can find a lot of 'taihu rock' surrounding a house, 'potted-plant' inside and outside of a room, and 'go' board in scenes of play. First, it is considered that supernatural idea is mainly composed of a wish for ageless and immortal life, and that symbolism of time and space is found in figures such as gourds and 'taihu rock'. Then, the symbolism found in women's house is considered. Women's house looks like a cave, and its structure is a pot which has no end. The structure of ' hua Ian', such as a flower pot in the wedding and a pot on the bed surrounded by a veil is connected to the primitive beliefs about gourds. Therefore it fulfills the similar cultural functions. On the other hand, Utopia in mountains also has the structure of gourds or a pot. In that space we can find the similar symbolism of 'taihu rock' and the synthesis of 'yin and yang'. The structure of a pot implies a birth and the wish for ageless and immortal life. It is now clear that to men a pot means a return to their mother's womb, and that it has the symbolism of a womb. | |||||
