An experimental study was performed to investigate the flip-flop flow mechanism in diamond-shaped cylinder bundles. Both two-dimensional particle image velocimetry(PIV) and two-dimensional laser Doppler velocimetry(LDV) was employed to visualize and monitor flow phenomena. The flow characteristics in the diverging-flow region in diamond-shaped cylinder bundles are clarified.
