Three kinds of sand specimens were used, and the liquefaction of specimens was caused by upward seepage flow. Main results obtained are as follows: (1) The expansion ratio is the ratio of post-liquefied volume to pre-liquefied volume, and this ratio was found to be proportional to the flow rate of upward seepage. (2) Between the melting point and the boiling point of a solid,the liquefied volume is almost linear with temperature.
