The molecular weight of the purified enzyme was estimated to be 85,700 by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and 321,000 by gel filtration. Optimum pH and temperature were 5.0 to 6.0 and 45℃, respectively. The K_m (mM) for p-, o-, m-nitrophenyl α-D-galactopyranoside, melibiose, raffinose, and stachyose were 0.14, 0.25, 0.49, 6.0, 48, and 68, respectively, and V_.
