A communication laser diode that radiates 1.3μm band wavelength is used as a light source. The laser was tuned continuously by a modulated current in two bands. One of them covered an absorption line of water completely. Following the characteristics of the light source, we constructed a prototype system for monitoring absorption spectrum of water and carried out experiments.
