So, we investigated the transition of population and land use for commercial facility during 15 years in 9 districts of Matunaga around Fukuyama University established in 1975. The conclusions are as follows; (1) Each district around the university has scarecely grown by natural increase in population, and has a very little grown by moving increase in population except for the moving-in increase of lodging students of the university. (2) The average size of a family of all districts has decreased from about 4 persons to about 3 persons during 15 years. In the district most of lodging houses have been constructed, it has become about 2 persons. (3) In 1975 there were about 500 stores in all districts. But, about 200 stores have been newly opened or remodeled and 50 stores have been closed until 1990. In 1990, there are about 650 stores.
