I gathered information by the questionnaire method on 266 students. And, I analyzed the results of the questionnaire and evaluated the type of room of lodging house, for example the independent type of room with 6-tatami, the common type of room with 6-tatami and so on, from a viewpoint of the size of room, the appurtenance, the physical condition and the like. The conclusions are as follows; (1) Most of students living in all type of room feel their room too small. Most of students living in the common type of room with 4.5-tatami or 6-tatami have expressions of discontent with the bath room and the kitchen. And most of students living in the independent type of room with 6-tatami have expressions of discontent with the interior planning of the room and the unit-bath room. (2) According to the appurtenance, they have expressions of discontent with too small closet and fixed furnitures for example the wardrobe, the bed and the desk. And they feel that there are too small number of telephone set and washing machine, and too small parking space for car, bicycle and autocycle. (3) Students don't prefer the common type of room because of the disturbance of their privacy except for the advantage of low rent for the room. (4) 50%～60% of students living in the independent type of room with 6-tatami or over 8-tatami are satisfied with their room, but less than 40% of students living in the independemt type of room with 6-tatami with the unit-bath room are satisfied with their room.
