内容記述 | Earthquake records give us all informations about mechanism of origins, propagation characteristics of seismic waves, dynamic amplification of surface layers and so on. The accelerograms of ground motion during strong earthquakes are used to calculate directly dynamic response of structures in order to examine whether the displacements and stresses of the structure exceed some allowable limits. So collecting natural earthquake records is of great importance in the aseismic engeneering. Earthquake obseravation from the engineering point of view, however, is hardly held in Chugoku District because of the low seismicity of the area. Many difficulties in the natural earthquake observation is now overcomed by the progressive development of some types of personal computers, which make the digital data processing easy with an analog/digital converter installed. Floppy disk system of the computer is fully reliable in recording eathquake waves. The earthquake observation system installed now measures only two components of the floor movement of a flat house. In spite of low seismicity of Chugoku District, some earthquake records has been obtained including long distance earthquake which occured in Chubu District. The analysis of the earthquake records is now being put into practice, and the earthquake characteristics of Chugoku District will be considerd in future papers. | |||||
