The temperature sensation of skin of 155 test subjects to the same values of irradiance obtained from three band radiators (A: 0.72-2.7μm, B: 1.5-4.8μm and C: 6-20μm) are investigated. The results are as follows: (1) Mid and far ir radiation gives stronger warm sensation to the almost of subjects than near ir radiation. (2) Near ir radiation gives mild warm sensation, but mid and far ir radiation gives sore warm sensation. (3) There are no differences of temperature sensation between male and female, and among age groups. (4) Mid and far ir regions beyond 2 μm of wavelength the temperature sensation of human skin is independent to wavelength.
