| 内容記述 | The Dogaku Foundation, the joint study Foundation, which had run Chinese and Japanese Language Schools for many years in Beijing, changed its policy to keep only Ko-a College for Japanese students in 1940. Akira NAKANOME was appointed as trustee and president. In this connection, another Foundation for the Diffusion of Japanese in the Northern China was newly founded to run the Central College of Japanese in Beijing and Research Institute of the Japanese Language in North China. Akira NAKANOME was appointed as trustee and president. "Giant" NAKANOME exercised his multiple abilities in leadership and management as well as research, despite the upsurge of militarism and centralization. The Central College of Japanese language was well staffed, leading to a remarkable development of the teaching of the Japanese language. In contrast, the Research Institute had few full-time staff members, but was well assisted by the teachers in the above-mentioned Central College, which was a sister institution of the same foundation. These institutions co-operated well under Nakanome's leadership. Furthermore, a reasonable number of competent teachers were widely invited as research staff. Thus, a unique and efficient system was organized by Akira NAKANOME. He was not only an administrater and organizer, but also a leader of research. His most noteworthy research was the phonetically-based kana system and Japanese lingua franca. He succeded in publishing Japanese in North China, a monthly journal from the Research Institute of Japanese in Beijing, to which he himself contributed as many as eight papers. Also, he published a textbook An Introduction to Geopolitics for Chinese students from the Central College of Japanese in 1940. It can be easily realized how different "Nakanome Geopolitics" was from the ultra nationalism that ruled Japan in those days. | |||||
