This case study could clarify that word meaning exists before structural meaning. Therefore, unsuccessful langauge learners try to understand the sentence according to the order in which the words appear in it. This fact shows that unsuccessful language learners can understand the sentence in a linear fashion but cannot understand it hierarchically.
