<dc:description>Holographic interferometry in holographic technique is mostexpected on engineering applications. In this study, non destructive testing of materials for industrial use was done by real-time method in holographic interferometry. Test specimens used in this experiment are vinyl chloride pipes (38mm in diameter, 150mm in length, 3.5mm in thickness). Defects of various shapes and sizes were added artificially on the insides of the specimens. For the purpose of the detection of the defects, the specimens were heated from the inside, and real-time holographic interferometry was applied before and after thermal deformation of the specimens. If there is a defect on the inside of the specimen, the defect is considered to influence the outside of the specimen. Therefore the location and the shape of the defect were guessed from the shape of the fringe which was observed by means of holographic interferometry. Consequently, the existences and the locations of the defects were confirmed clearly, and the shapes and the sizes of the defects were guessed fairly.</dc:description>
