<datacite:description descriptionType="Other">Recently, lower wattage HID Lamps have been developed and used for an indoor illumination in offices and stores, and desirable to shorten the lamp starting and reignition time. Furthermore, the ballast for the lamps is required to be smaller size, lighter weight and moreover excellent functions such as good controllability. Therefore, a development of a dynamic simulation model of the HID lamps has been tried, for the study of shortening the lamp starting time, or the analysis and design of the operating circuit. About high pressure mercury lamps, a simulation model has already been proposed, taking notice of the relation of voltage, current and vapor pressure, at the behavior in transient. However, this model had the trouble that had to measure the lamp pressures each, in case that the lamp wattages differ from the measured one. Thus, the authors take notice of the electrical conductivity in plasma in order to extend the adaptability of the model, and newly develop a mathematical model with electrical conduct!bity in plasma, to be capable of simulating a behavior in transient that is from having started electric discharge to having reached to a steady state, on a certain assumption. In this paper, the above-mentioned mathematical model is proposed, and it is described that the calculated results show relatively good agreement with the experimental results, and the new proposed mathematical model is appropriate.</datacite:description>
