          <datacite:description descriptionType="Other">Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a glycoprotein hormone composed of dissimilar subunits, α and β. Subunits of hCG are synthesized and associate to form hCG in trophoblastic cells of placenta, and then hCG is secreted to blood and finally excreted in urine. This review discusses the biosynthesis and transport of hCG and its subunits based on the properties of the purified intracellular forms of hCG and its subunits from first trimester placental cells.</datacite:description>
